How This Whole Thing Works

The Basics

For eleven days we’ll post clues on our Facebook and Instagram pages. Each clue leads to a location in Shreveport that is somehow related to a theme or element of Hadestown, and at each location there will be a red carnation from Hadestown. Take a selfie with the carnation and share it to social media to enter your name into the drawing for prizes, including 2 tickets to see Hadestown at The Strand Theatre on February 23!

Each day’s clue will point you to a new location with a new carnation. Every carnation is another entry for a chance to win! So the more locations you find, the more likely you are to win!

What You're Hunting For

Hadestown is a story about love and hope despite terrible circumstances, and a red carnation is a symbol of the return of Spring and warmth.

The carnations at our hunt locations will be large images – some will be pretty obvious while others might require a slightly closer look. However, all of the carnations will be visible without moving anything or having to climb or crawl.

About the Locations

Each of the locations in our hunt is somehow related to one of the themes or elements of Hadestown. Along with each clue, we’ll also be sharing some details about the way it relates to Hadestown!

Hadestown is a really special show that’s got a reputation for winning over audiences that aren’t the typical Broadway fan. We think Shreveport is a little like that as well, and each location in our hunt has its own story to tell.

Requirements for Entries

While the basics of the contest are find a carnation, post a selfie, there are a few requirements for each entry to be eligible.

Timelines

The contest runs from Friday, February 6 to Monday, February 16 for a total of 11 days. Each day we’ll release a clue at noon on both Facebook and Instagram. People who completed the early registration form for direct updates get early access – those clues will be sent at 6:00 am via email.

After the clues are published to social media, this page will be updated to include the complete list.

Entries must be received by 8:00 PM on February 16 to be eligible.

Winners will be announced on February 17th at 2:00 PM on social media, and will be contacted directly via email.

The Prizes

There will be one Grand Prize Winner and several smaller prize winners as well.

The Grand Prize winner will receive a Premium Ticket Package to see Hadestown on February 23, 2026 at The Strand Theatre, including 2 tickets, and a one night only VIP pass that gets you into the Chandelier Room with a private bar and a parking pass for our VIP lot, so you don’t have to fight the traffic!

Smaller prizes may include credit vouchers for concessions, tickets to select performances in the future, or a discount on tickets to future performances. Other prizes may be announced still!

Hadestown Carnation Hunt – Official Contest Rules

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.

1. Sponsor

The Hadestown Carnation Hunt (the “Contest”) is sponsored by The Strand Theatre, Shreveport, Louisiana (“Sponsor”).

2. Eligibility

The Contest is open to individuals who are 18 years of age or older at the time of entry. Employees, board members, and immediate family members of The Strand Theatre are not eligible to participate. The Contest is void where prohibited by law.

3. Contest Period

The Contest begins on Friday, February 6, 2026 @ 10:00 AM and ends on Monday, February 16, 2026 @ 9:00 PM (the “Contest Period”). Entries submitted before or after the Contest Period will not be eligible.

4. Contest Details

During the Contest Period, the Sponsor will publish clues on social media that will lead participants to the locations of official Hadestown carnations.
Clues will be published daily at noon from Friday, February 6, 2026 to Monday, February 16, 2026.
Participants who completed the pre-contest email registration form will receive early access to clues at 8:00 AM via email.
Each clue is related to the location of a single carnation unless otherwise indicated.
All carnations will be located in the public right-of-way and easily accessible. Clues do not need to be removed from their locations to take a selfie for entry. (in other words – no trespassing and no vandalizing! Let’s keep this fun and respect our neighbors!)

5. How to Enter

During the Contest Period, participants may enter by completing all of the following steps:

Follow The Strand Theatre on Facebook (@strandshreveport) or Instagram (@TheStrandTheatre1925)
Locate an official Hadestown carnation placed in a publicly accessible location as part of the Contest.
Take a selfie with the carnation.
Post the photo publicly on Instagram or Facebook, tagging The Strand Theatre (FB: @strandshreveport; IG: @TheStrandTheatre1925) and using the official contest hashtag #HadestownAtTheStrand
Complete and submit the official online entry form, including a valid link to your social media post.

Each carnation found counts as one (1) entry. Limit one entry per carnation per person. No automated or bulk entries are permitted.

5. Entry Requirements & Verification

Social media posts must be public and accessible for verification.
Entries that are incomplete, inaccurate, illegible, or do not comply with these Official Rules may be disqualified at Sponsor’s sole discretion.
Sponsor reserves the right to verify the validity of any entry and disqualify any participant who tampers with the entry process or violates these rules.

6. Prizes

Grand Prize (1 winner):

Two (2) tickets to Hadestown at The Strand Theatre on February 23

Secondary Prizes (multiple winners):

May include concession credits, ticket discounts, or tickets to a future Strand Theatre performance

Prizes are non-transferable, have no cash value, and may not be substituted except at Sponsor’s discretion.

7. Winner Selection & Notification

Winners will be selected at random from all eligible entries received during the Contest Period. Winners will be notified via the email address or phone number provided on the entry form no later than Tuesday, February 17, 2026 @ 5:00 PM. If a selected winner does not respond within 48 hours, Sponsor reserves the right to select an alternate winner.

8. Publicity Release

By entering the Contest, participants grant Sponsor permission to use their name, likeness, social media handle, and submitted photographs for promotional and marketing purposes in any media, without additional compensation, unless prohibited by law.

9. Release & Limitation of Liability

By participating, entrants agree to release and hold harmless The Strand Theatre, its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, and agents from any and all liability arising from participation in the Contest or acceptance or use of any prize.

Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, misdirected, incomplete, or corrupted entries; technical failures; or unauthorized human intervention in the Contest.

10. Social Media Disclaimer

This Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Instagram or Facebook. Participants release Instagram and Facebook from any responsibility related to this Contest.

11. General Conditions

Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, suspend, or modify the Contest if fraud, technical failures, weather conditions, or any other factor beyond Sponsor’s reasonable control impairs the integrity of the Contest. Sponsor’s decisions regarding all aspects of the Contest are final and binding.

12. Privacy

Information collected from participants is subject to Sponsor’s privacy practices and will be used for contest administration and, where consent is given, future marketing communications from The Strand Theatre.

13. Governing Law

The Contest and these Official Rules are governed by the laws of the State of Louisiana, without regard to conflict of law principles.
